Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Tuesday that the government would offer power bill subsidies to consumers who decide to lower their consumption during winter. "The more energy you save compared to last year's bill... the bigger subsidy you will get," Mitsotakis told local radio Sfera.
Greece has joined western countries in reducing the imports of Russian energy products since the start of Moscow's invasion on Ukraine. Next to the announced subsidies, the Greek government imposed a cap on payments to power producers to real production costs this summer and secured another €2 billion.
